I have had the pleasure of mentoring many graduate students as they pursue research training, who are now flourishing in doctoral programs across the country (e.g., University of Michigan, University of Chicago, Yale University). I intentionally work to demystify hidden curriculums and agendas as they navigate predominantly white institutions. This includes openly sharing my own experiences, involving them as collaborators and co-authors, sharing opportunities and funding, and conversing candidly about their experiences in academia.
